The NUC 8i7HVK by Intel

I received my NUC about two days ago with the following configuration:

  • Intel 8th Gen i7 8809G processor
  • AMD GPU  Radeon RX Vega M GH
  • 32GB ram
  • 1TB NVMe SSD

8i7HVK inside

Mine is the 100W version

You may be asking yourself what the difference is, it’s the power brick.

This is great but being the geek that I am I decided to increase the storage to 2TB by adding a second NVMe SSD.  This did not go as smooth as I had hopped as I installed the new NVMe SSD into the second M.2 slot on the motherboard and proceeded to the Bios to see if it was recognized.  It was not.

As you can see below it finally sees both M.2 NVMe SSDs

Todays update on this NUC is the constant triangle of death in the device settings of Windows.

My error is on the TSP65988 driver which I have concluded deals with the onboard Power over USB for charging cell phones or the like.  To this day I haven’t been able to update this drive to remove the error.  All drivers were installed from the Intel site that are the makers of said NUC.

Updated 4/6/19

After installing some 3rd party software that cleans the registry I was able to get  the pesky triangle to go away.
